Roy Cross has for 35 years been well known, both in Europe and the U.S.A.,for his exceptional renderings of the sea - as foregrounds to his fine marine paintings of historical ships, ports and events from the Age of Sail.
As relief from the intensive research and detail involved in his usual work, Roy has recently produced some seascape scenes from life, during visits to his beloved Cornwall, and these make fine paintings in themselves.
In his seascapes Roy enjoys slightly more spontanious brushwork and more immediate results compared with the longer haul of his historical paintings...
