Hi Laura– You can make this in an oven. What we’ve done is place a cookie cooling rack over a baking sheet and lay out the jerky slices on that. Set the oven as low as it can go until it’s dried. I have not made jerky in the air fryer yet, but I’m sure there’s a way to do a small batch in one. Now you’ve got me curious!

I’ve used this recipe, minus the brown sugar for years. I have put Tabasco sauce in to make it spicy. You can add almost anything you like to this recipe. I usually add liquid smoke to mine as well. Now, I want to make jerky. LOL Love the smell.5 stars

Air fryer?? I don’t have a dehydrator and am not interested in purchasing and storing another kitchen appliance.

A source that we trust (Pacific Northwest Extension) says up to 1-2 months in an airtight container at room temperature, even without the preservatives. However, the National Center for Home Preservation at the University of Georgia says 2 weeks.

Yes, you could use this marinade and smoke it instead. We don’t have a smoked jerky recipe on our site, but you can find instructions here: https://www.jerkyholic.com/make-beef-jerky-smoker/
