Anthony Richard Grenville Cowland was educated at Brighton College of Art, where he got a Double First. He is a member of The Chartered Society of Designers, past Director of several Architectural/Design Practices, a Fellow of The Guild of Aviation Artists (Past Chairman) and a Member Guild of Motoring Artists.
He has travelled Worldwide for painting and illustration commissions with British Armed Forces, and is the winner of many Painting and Design Awards in the UK and USA.
He signs most of his paintings Anthony Cowland, with the exception of his pre-20th-Century Naval subjects, which he signs with his middle names - Richard Grenville.
His work is noted for its meticulous detail and historical accuracy, and is collected worldwide.
