Most people who network with this approach usually end up not achieving what they wanted to in the first place.

Networking is just another word for building relationships, and you can’t do that if you are not genuine about yourself, however this also doesn’t mean you need to a completely open book and play all your cards on the table, it is a subtle skill that needs practice, but it should at the same time be a fulfilling activity as you get the opportunity to build real relationships with everyone you network with.

They understand you are networking, and so are they, it becomes a give and take in order to mutually achieve goals that benefit both you and the other person. There is no such thing as just taking taking taking, because that isn’t networking, that is something else.

Networking most definitely serves the business and again the business is also there to serve the networks, you can’t lean only one way.
